ABOUT HILLS

Our mission is to love God, to love others, and to work wholeheartedly for the Lord in all we do.

  • “Loving God, loving others, and working wholeheartedly for the Lord in all we do” captures the heart of what it means to follow Christ. Christ is the One we serve, and our lives are shaped by the greatest commandments He gave us. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 22:37–39 that we are called to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. These two commandments are the foundation of our faith and the posture of a life surrendered to Him.

To love God is to place Him first in every part of our lives—our worship, our decisions, our hopes, and our daily actions. To love others means reflecting Christ’s compassion, grace, and humility to every person we encounter. This kind of love is active, intentional, and rooted in the example Jesus set for us. And when we commit to working wholeheartedly for the Lord, as Colossians 3:23–24 teaches, we choose to serve Him not only in church settings, but in our homes, workplaces, and communities.

Together, these truths form a simple yet powerful calling: Love God. Love people. Serve the Lord with all your heart.

  • Driven by our love for the Lord and our desire to walk in obedience to His commandments, we seek to cultivate a vibrant faith community where hearts are nurtured, strengthened, and encouraged. Our mission is intentional—we want to grow together in Christ, build one another up, and create an environment where faith is alive, active, and flourishing.

We believe the church should be a place of spiritual vitality, where lives are continually transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. As we serve with compassion and humility, we hope to make a meaningful impact on the spiritual, personal, and relational areas of people’s lives. Every act of kindness and every step of service reflects the love of Christ and points others toward Him.

At the center of this vision is the commitment to form genuine relationships—connections marked by authenticity, grace, and mutual care. We long for a community where people feel known, valued, and supported as they pursue Christ together. In all we do, our ultimate aim is to bring glory to God.

What we believe about the Bible…

The Bible is the final authority for all we believe. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17)

    What we believe about God…

We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons (the Trinity): Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 1:1-14)

We believe God is the Creator of everything. (Genesis 1:1)

We believe Jesus is exactly who the Bible says He is… “God with us”. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died to bring us back into a right relationship with God, rose from the dead, is now in heaven preparing an eternal home for those who follow Him, and will one day return. (Luke 1:1-4)

    What we believe about salvation…

We believe we have all chosen to walk away from God and will justly die. (Romans 3:236:23)

We believe salvation is by the grace of God, not something we can earn on our own effort. It is found only in Jesus. (Romans 6:23John 14:6Ephesians 2:8, 9)

We believe the biblical response to God’s grace shown through Jesus is to turn from our sinful lives, declare Jesus as Lord, be immersed in His Name, and continue to grow in our relationship and knowledge of Him by loving Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and loving our neighbors as ourselves. (Acts 2:38, 39)

We believe those who have responded appropriately to God’s grace have His Spirit living in them, directing and guiding them, and serving as a “deposit” for heaven yet to come. (Acts 2:382 Corinthians 5:4, 5)

We believe life doesn’t stop here. There will be a judgment of every person with those who have decided to live with and for Jesus inheriting eternal life and those who have decided to live without Jesus facing eternal separation from God. (Revelation 20:11-13)

We believe all who have accepted Jesus as Lord are joined together in His family, the Church. (Romans 12:4, 5)

ABOUT PASTOR DAVID HOUGH

David Hough didn’t grow up in church—in fact, he hardly remembers hearing the name of Jesus at all as a kid. But years later, while deployed in Iraq, he opened a Bible and had a surprising realization: many of the principles he was reading were the same things his mom taught him growing up. Turns out, she picked up more from church as a child than she ever talked about. That moment didn’t bring him to faith—he was already a believer—but it deepened his appreciation for how God had been shaping his life long before he understood it.

Today, David serves as the Lead Pastor of Hills Christian Church in Falcon, Colorado. He brings a fun, relatable, high-energy approach to preaching and loves helping people take real, practical steps in their walk with Jesus. His church family lovingly teases him for three things: his grammar, the way he whistles his S’s at times, and the fact that his sermons occasionally take the “extended director’s cut” version. (He calls it passion. They call it intermission.)

Before ministry, David spent 25 years in the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller—training that shaped his leadership, discipline, and ability to stay steady when life feels chaotic. He’s especially passionate about men’s discipleship, calling men to live as warriors for Christ who reject comfort, embrace responsibility, and pursue spiritual growth with everything they’ve got.

David and his wife, Michelle, have been married for over 25 years and have two incredible kids—a son and a daughter who keep life honest, funny, and full of purpose. When he’s not preaching or investing in people, you’ll find him cheering on the Seattle Seahawks, or drinking coffee so strong that it could probably wake the dead.

At the end of the day, David is a regular guy who loves Jesus deeply, loves people sincerely, and believes the Christian life is too important to live comfortably—so he invites everyone around him to stretch, grow, and step boldly into the life God created them for.
